Dog Behavior Training For Dog Behavior Problems 

Dog behavior training isn’t what you’re thinking about when you bring home your puppy or new dog.  You’re not thinking about the dog behavior problems your puppy may have.  You’re not thinking of the chewing, the aggression, the barking.  You’re just thinking about how cute this puppy or dog is.  You’re just excited to be a new dog parent.

Then the newness wears off.  Every dog, cute or not, needs dog behavior training.  Why?  Because every dog, if left to his or her own devices, will wreak havoc in your life. 

Dogs know nothing of manners.  They have no interest in impressing anyone with their refinement.  They just want to have fun. 

Which is precisely why you need dog behavior training.  The more well-behaved your dog is, the more fun your dog will have. 

Dog Training Basics For Good Dog Behavior 

Dog training basics include three must-dos for creating good dog behavior with successful dog behavior training:

1.  Be consistent with your dog behavior training.  You can’t teach your dog only when you’re in the mood or when you have a spare minute.  You need to do it regularly.  Just like when you’re doing a diet or exercise program, doing it just once in awhile isn’t going to give you the results you want.  Set aside some time at least 3 or 4 times a week, daily is better, to work on your dog behavior training.

2.  Keep it short.  The good news is that the time you take for dog training basics isn’t going to be too tough to work into your schedule.  It’s important to keep dog behavior training sessions short.  Dogs have short attention spans.  You want them to look forward to the sessions, not hate them.  Train good dog behavior in short bursts, and your dog will enjoy it, and your dog will learn more as a result.

3.  Be patient.  Your dog isn’t going to respond to dog behavior training overnight.  Good dog behavior isn’t instantaneous.  Some dog behavior training can take a long time.  Other dog training will be quicker.  But don’t get impatient with your dog.  It will upset her, and then she’ll be too tense too learn.  Remember how much you hated it in school when teachers got impatient with you?
