Dog house training, potty training a dog, doesn’t have to be a long, smelly process.  In fact, dog house training can be done in as little as a couple days when you do it right.

My dog, Muggins was only 8-weeks old when we brought her home, but by focusing right away dog house training, we were accident-free in no time.  On the third day she was with us, she marched up to the sliding glass door and tapped it with her tiny white paw.  I opened the door, and trotted out onto the lawn and squatted.  That’s how easy potty training a dog can be.

3.  Dog house training for quick results is all about praise.  Praise your dog profusely every time he or she pees or poops outside.  I mean, go crazy with praise.  Dog house training isn’t about decorum, it’s about having a house free of pee and poop.  If you need to clap your hands and squeal, “What a good pee,” then it’s worth it, isn’t it.  You can also include treats as a form of praise.  Use small, healthy treats, and you can give your dog or puppy a treat whenever he or she does his toilet thing outside. 

Crate Training: Dog Restriction Prevents Accidents

4.  Crate training can help you with step 4 of dog house training.  Restrict your dog or puppy until you’re sure that your dog house training efforts have succeeded.  Leaving your dog in a crate, for example, when you leave the house, is a great way to limit the chance of little accidents.  Dogs don’t like messing up their “dens,” and the crate, to your dog, is his or her den.  When you’re home and the dog is out of the crate, restrict your dog or puppy to whatever room you’re in.  This helps you do step 1, watching your dog.
